Places to drink at a discount
Whether they’re waiving the corkage fee or offering a discount on bottles, here are five places where you can drink more and pay less.

Absinthe
You can buy many of the wines on the list at this Hayes Valley brasserie at Arlequin Wine Merchant (384 Hayes St., S.F., 415-863-1104), just a few doors down the street. You’ll pay less than you would at the restaurant, and you’re welcome to enjoy your purchase with your meal there, sans corkage fee. 398 Hayes St., S.F., 415-551-1590
Brick
Diners linger a little longer at their tables on Tuesdays at this smart dining spot in the Tenderloin. All wines on the list are half-price that night, which makes ordering “just one more” a very easy thing to do. 1085 Sutter St., S.F., 415-441-4232
Luka’s Taproom & Lounge
It may be known for its extensive beer selection, but Luka’s also has a very reasonably priced wine list—and those prices get even better on Sundays, when they’re slashed in half and you can score a bottle of Unti Vineyards’ Dry Creek Valley rosé for just $17.50 (that’s 50 cents less than the suggested retail price). 2221 Broadway, Oakland, 510-451-4677
Maverick
Every Monday, wines at this Mission district restaurant sell for 40 percent off their list price. It’s the perfect night to decide whether you prefer, for instance, a Beckmen Vineyards rosé from the Santa Ynez Valley or a Lauterbach Cellars pinot noir with the kitchen’s stellar fried chicken. 3316 17th St., S.F., 415-863-3061
Sebo
Beau Timken selects the sakes for this popular sushi bar. His store, True Sake (560 Hayes St., S.F., 415-355-9555), is just across the street; if you pick up a bottle there, you can enjoy it with your sashimi and forget about a corkage fee. 517 Hayes St., S.F., 415-864-2122
