Pretty city bike route
This safe, scenic, fairly flat route is the absolute inside track from downtown to Ocean Beach. From the Ferry Building, head up Market, where you'll ride among more of your pedaling brethren than on any other street in the city. Then curve up Duboce, past the brilliant bikeway mural on the back of Safeway and into what's affectionately called the Wiggle: right on Steiner, left on Waller, right on Pierce, left on Haight, right on Scott, left on Fell. It's a cinch from here; cruise Fell's spacious bike lane into Golden Gate Park, exit at Lincoln, and hook a left onto the Great Highway's paved, off-street path. Follow that all the way to Sunset's end and to biker's bliss.
